Loaned Hardware Overview
You have just received your VR hardware and a laptop from us to get started with Halocline. After scanning the QR code, you have landed on this page. Here you will find step-by-step instructions. Let's get started – it's easy!
What you have received
- A laptop with charging cable
- A Meta Quest 3 VR headset, controllers and accessories
- A USB-C cable (Quest Link cable)
Before you start: set up internet access
An internet connection is required to log in and use Halocline. Check which of these options you can use:
- Guest Wi-Fi of the company network
This gives you internet access without access to internal company data. - Hotspot
You can create a Wi-Fi network with your smartphone that connects the laptop to the internet via mobile data. Caution: keep an eye on your data volume!
Setup in seven steps
Step 1: Start the laptop
Start the laptop you received from us. You will find the login data in your onboarding. Enter it to log in to your user account.
Step 2: Start Meta Horizon on the laptop
Start the Meta Horizon app on the laptop. It establishes the connection between your VR headset and Halocline.
Step 3: Turn on the headset
The power button is on the left side of the Meta Quest 3. Press and hold it for 3 seconds to turn on the headset. During startup you will hear a startup sound and see the Meta logo in the headset. As soon as a menu is displayed, the headset has fully started.
Step 4: Connect the USB-C cable
Now connect the Meta Quest 3 to the laptop. Plug the USB-C cable (Quest Link cable) into a suitable port on the laptop and on the headset. Your headset communicates with the laptop through this connection.
Step 5: Activate Quest Link
Put on your headset. It will ask whether you want to start Quest Link. Confirm to establish the connection between laptop and headset. Quest Link lets you use Halocline in the virtual environment.
If the prompt does not appear: tap the controller battery icon at the bottom left to open the quick access menu. Select the Quest Link tile, find your laptop in the list and tap Start at the bottom.
Step 6: Set up room detection
The headset now automatically scans your environment to detect the available space. Follow the instructions in the headset to define a safe play area.
- Limited space, e.g. at your desk: choose Stationary mode.
- More space: use Room-scale.
- To adjust room detection or floor height later: press the Meta button on the controller and go to Guardian settings.
Step 7: Start Halocline
After room detection you will find yourself in a neutral, white environment, the Quest Link space. Wait until it is displayed. Then start the Halocline app on the laptop and launch Halocline VR from it.

Quick reference: the right order
The setup works best if you start in this order every time:
- Start Meta Horizon on the laptop
- Turn on the Meta Quest 3
- Connect the headset to the laptop with the USB-C cable
- Activate Quest Link in the headset
- Wait until the white Quest Link space appears in the headset
- Start the Halocline app
- Start Halocline VR
