With Halocline XR, you take your planning into the factory. This article walks you through the first steps on the Meta Quest 3 — from login to validating your layout on-site.
Requirements
- A Meta Quest 3 or Quest 3S.
- A Halocline user account. If your organization already uses Halocline Desktop: a login from version 2026.1 onward is required. Older logins (2025.3 or earlier) are not compatible. In that case, contact your Halocline administrator.
- Your user account must be enabled for Beta use. To do so, contact helpdesk@halocline.io
Instructions
- Join our Release Channel in the Meta Horizon Store with your Meta Quest user account.
Note: During the Beta phase, Halocline is not yet publicly available in the Meta Horizon Store. - Install the Halocline XR app on your Meta Quest 3 and launch it.
- Before starting, set up a play area (Guardian) and make sure you have enough free space to move around safely.
- Put on the headset and pick up both controllers.
- Sign in with your Halocline user account. Enter your credentials using the VR keyboard.
- You land directly in your organization's workspace. Halocline XR is a cloud application — all Spaces, layouts, and objects are available at the same state as for your colleagues on the browser or desktop.
Step 1: Sketch your layout — also possible in XR
Sketching a layout also works directly in XR: open a Space and plan using the Standard Library. It contains ready-made objects such as machines, workstations, shelves, and tools, which can be adjusted directly in the room, using the controllers at natural scale.
The focus of the XR application, however, lies in the next step.
Step 2: Validate & optimize — the core of Halocline XR
Open an existing Space that was already created on the web, or one your team is working on — every Space stays in sync between Web and XR.
Mixed reality — on-site walkthrough: Overlay your layout at true scale in the real room, directly on the shop floor or on the designated area. This lets you validate footprints, walkways, and ergonomics with your colleagues on-site, before anything is physically moved.
Virtual reality — location-independent walkthrough: Walk through your layout entirely in VR, regardless of location. Use this for walkthroughs with decision-makers, wherever they are. You can use Meta Quest streaming to let colleagues follow along on a desktop.
Real-time sync: All users in an organization can open the same Space. Badges show who is currently viewing. Changes are visible instantly on all connected devices: a colleague moves a workstation in the browser, and you see the change instantly in the headset. This lets you incorporate feedback from a shared session directly on-site, with no need to go back to a computer.
Step 3: Export your sketch
Once your layout is agreed upon with everyone involved, you can export your plan. The export happens via Halocline Web: see Getting Started with Halocline Web.
